“A Summer Evening in Beijing with Very Special Friends”

Beijing, PRC – The Third Annual Fred Tibbitts & Associates (FTA) “A Summer Evening in Beijing with Very Special Friends” proved a memorable event for the fortunate seventy plus who attended this annual FTA Spectacular.

All guest at the reception, held at the Kempinski Hotel Beijing, were formally introduced and enjoyed Moet Champagne courtesy of Moet Hennessy Asia Pacific.

The guest list was a veritable “Who’s Who” of Beijing’s top hotel General Managers and Directors of Food & Beverage as well as members of the ambassadorial and consular community, plus the most prominent Beijing entertainment magazine Publishers and Editors, including Tao Ji of the China Daily, Pang Wei of Trend Setter Magazine, Raymond Kang of Beijing Tatler, Jean Ma of Metropolis, Qi Zhang of Beijing Weekend and May Yuan of LifeStyle, the excellent press attendance all as a result of the work of the Kempinski Hotel Beijing.

The five-course dinner, prepared by Executive Chef Wolfgang Schmelcher and his team, was preceded by Loyalty Toasts by among other: Albert Rouwendal, Hotel Manager of the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center; Dr. Christian Voumard, UNICEF Representative to China and Reinhold Jakobi, Director of Foodservice Business Unit, Greater China Region, Nestle China.

Fred Tibbitts, Jr., President & CEO of “FTA” presented a donation from the proceeds of the dinner in the amount of $1,000.00 US to the China Tibetan Children Health & Education Fund, gratefully accepted by Annie S.C. Wu, Honorary Advisor to the Fund, who was accompanied by Dr. Christian Voumard, UNICEF Representative for China.  Dr. Christian Voumard commented that “…such generosity makes it possible for UNICEF and the other China relief agencies to help an increasing number of disadvantaged children in Western China and wherever the need may arise”.

Then followed a presentation by Jiang Xiaoyu, Executive Vice President, Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Beijing Olympics of special edition Beijing Olympics Air China model planes to Fred Tibbitts, Jr. and to Dr. Christian Voumard.

The guests were next treated to a stunning violin performance by one of China’s most famous violinists, Siqing Lu, accompanied by pianist Yuan Sheng.  The performers were given a standing ovation and presented bouquets of flowers by the staff and gratefully acknowledged the appreciation with an encore.

The eleven wines with the dinner were carefully paired by Kempinski Hotel Beijing Banquet Manager, Oliver Becker.  The Sponsors for the dinner included Jointek Fine Wines, Torres China, Calama Wines, Moet Hennessy, Maxxium, Beverage Metrics, Kleine Zalze Wines, Jebsen Fine Wines and Cumulus Wines.
